Your Guide to Summer 2016 Festivals and Concerts on Long Island

With the warmer weather approaching, the countdown to summer music festivals has begun. To help you plan which concerts and events to attend this summer, we put together a What, When, and Where guide to festivals and music events on Long Island. This list will keep you jamming each month as you enjoy the tunes, the sun, and the good vibes.

June

Woodstock Revival 

What:    An annual outdoor concert featuring Woodstock tribute bands Wonderous Stories, Half Step, Milagro and Jellyband. Join them as they recreate the music of The Who, Santana, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Band, Janis Joplin, and others. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, and picnic lunches to the summer event you do not want to miss.

When:      June 12 from Noon – 6 p.m.

Where:     Vanderbilt Great Lawn

Located at 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, NY

How Much:    $30 in advance when you order online, or $40 at gate. 

Dave Matthew’s Band 25th Anniversary

What:    If you’re a Dave Matthew’s Band fan, you don’t want to miss this anniversary bash. They promise two full sets and a summer night to remember before they embark on a 2017 hiatus. 

When:        June 21 at 8 p.m.

Where:       Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY

How Much:    Tickets start at $40

Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon Laser-Rock Show

What:    Based on the wildly successful 1973 album of that name, this psychedelic laser-light, rock show will dazzle your senses. With cutting edge technology and high-end surround sound it is a whole new laser-rock show, thanks to the new renovation of the Vanderbilt Planetarium. 

When:         June – August

Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.

Where:     Vanderbilt Museum, Centerport, NY

How Much:    $9

July

Great South Bay Music Festival  

What:     Long Island’s largest, annual music experience. Over 50 musical acts will perform across three stages which includes two main stages and an “Emerging Artists” stage. Plus, a “Kidzone” for the little ones.

When:        July 14 – 17

Where:     Shorefront Park, Patchogue, NY

How Much:    Tickets start at $29

Vans Warped Tour 16

What:    Vans Warped Tour is one of the biggest outdoor summer concert series in the nation. This mix of punk, metal, and indie rock is a hot concoction for a full day of summer fun. Headlining this year for Long Island are New Found Glory, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Good Charlotte, and Yellowcard.

When:        July 9 from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Where:        Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY

How Much:    Tickets start at $65

New York AutoFest Music Festival  

What:    AutoFest attendees will get the chance to admire hot rods, classic cars, modified cars and more while enjoying classic rock hits of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. 

When:    July 29 at 8 a.m.

Where:    100 Gordon Drive, Syosset, NY

How Much:    $5 for adults. Free for children under 12.

August

L.I. Sound & Art Festival

What:    This event offers sizzling summer fun including live music, live painting, a drum circle, and vendors. Featuring music from Mountain Jam Orchestra, Elephant, Ken Talve Trio, & Djembe Movement. This event is going to be groovy.

When:         August 7 from Noon – 6:30 p.m.

Where:        Northport Village Park, Northport, NY

How Much:    This one is totally FREE!

Links Festival

What:    A day of live music and art on 80 acres of summer lawn. The festival features live painting events, gourmet food trucks, and activities for the kiddos. Performances from Wonderous Stories, Half Step, Milagro, Cousin Fungus, Cousin Earth, and Combo Brothers Band.

When:    August 28 at 12 p.m.

Where:    149 Edwards Ave, Calverton, NY

How Much:    Adults $35  /  15 and under $10  /  5 and under are Free

I Don’t Know Tour 2016

What:    Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefers keep the heat coming as August reaches its end with their tour titled “I Don’t Know.” A beachfront concert that has become a summer show staple for Long Islanders. We don’t know why you would want to miss it!

When:    August 25 at 8 p.m.

Where:    Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, NY

How Much:     Tickets start at $65
