Long Island is a pretty sweet place to call home. We have the grooviest beaches for camping, Billy Joel AND Dee Snider (from Twisted Sister), bagels, The Baldwin Brothers, and our own special iced tea... ; )
We also have some of the best bars at which to catch live rock music!
Whether you’re a metalhead, supporter of local bands, or just looking to pick up chicks with piercings, give thanks to Buddha because you’re a Long Islander and we’ve got you covered.
In today’s blog, we encourage you to crank out that air guitar and head on over to one of these 5 rocking Long Island bars.
Top 5 Long Island Bars for Live Music
1. KJ Farrell’s – Bellmore
There’s a reason they are Nassau’s premier live music venue. KJ’s hosts live music 6 nights a week, including full band showcases, open mic, and even karaoke. They have an awesome stage and quite an impressive menu, too, if you get the munchies. Come out Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for the best rock and roll shows.
2. Revolution Bar & Music Hall – Amityville
Not only is Amityville home to the Horror House, but one of the sickest music bars, as well. Jump into that mosh pit if you dare. Revolution hosts all sorts of weekly events, from Battle of the Bands to Freestyle Nights, plus live DJ events and even trippy light shows. Bands like Trapt and The Ataris have played big shows here as well. Follow them on Facebook to keep up with events.
3. Blue Parrot – Massapequa
If classic rock is your thing, head to the Blue Parrot. Here, local musicians cover all the nostalgic hits while mixing in some of their original work, too. Catch karaoke and open mic nights along with drink specials, which include a beer and a shot for on only $5, Monday through Saturday from 2-7 p.m.! Say whaaaat?! Talk about a deal...
4. Even Flow Bar and Grill – Bay Shore
Known for being a spanking good music venue dishing the best hot wings around, this bar has won awards for both! (That is, for music and chicken, not spanking.) Even Flow has live music 3-5 nights a week, with Open Mic Night every Monday.
Goers rave about the $15 all-you-can-drink beers and their 20 different wing sauces… They even have a sauce called Sex and Candy. Mhmmm. So, if you love throwing your rock and roll hand gesture in the air while eating chicken, then we really don’t know what you’re waiting for, head there immediately!
5. Tap & Barrel – Smithtown
Long Island is also home to some of the most fantastic craft beers. At Tap & Barrel, choose from an impressive menu of craft beer, while enjoying live folk rock, blues, grass, and jazz. Catch the Jazz Jam every Tuesday night. Ok, so this one is a little on the lighter side as far as music goes, but we swear on Mr. Pothead, you’ll dig the atmosphere and vibes this chill bar is sending out.
